Cwmni Da

Trainee Researcher

As one of Wales’ leading independent production companies, Cwmni Da has built a strong reputation for delivering high-quality, innovative content across a wide range of genres—from children’s programming and factual entertainment to documentary and drama. Established in 1997 and based in Caernarfon, we are proud to be an employee-owned company rooted in Welsh culture and language.

Our 50-plus staff produce content for major broadcasters including S4C, BBC, and Channel 4, with a portfolio that spans long-running series, live events, and internationally distributed co-productions.

Our work has been recognised with numerous industry awards reflecting both creative excellence and technical innovation. We have won a ‘Best Places to Work’ Award from Broadcast in each of the past three years.

Our ethos is built around people. We take a human-first approach to technology and creativity, ensuring that innovation enhances rather than replaces the skills of our teams. We are committed to nurturing talent, supporting career development, and maintaining a collaborative and inclusive working environment. Ethical responsibility is central to our work, both in production and employment.

Operating from our facilities between the Menai Strait and the mountains of Eryri, we combine traditional production expertise with forward-looking digital capabilities, including green-screen and AI-driven workflows. As we continue to evolve, our goal remains the same: to create distinctive, meaningful content from the heart of Wales, which resonates with audiences at home and abroad, and pushes the boundaries of modern storytelling.

This role requires you to be a Welsh speaker (learner or second language is fine). Please ensure you indicate this in Question 3.
