Your questions, answered

So you're thinking about applying to the Paralympics Production Training Scheme, but you've got a question before you hit that apply button....

We've covered all the common questions we get asked in our FAQ's. Take a look and see if the answer to your question is here. Can't find the answer you're looking for? No problem! You can contact us at 4skills@channel4.co.uk and a member of the team will be able to help.

The scheme is open exclusively for disabled candidates, including cognitive or neurodiverse conditions, hearing impairments, learning disabilities, long-term health conditions, mental-ill health, physical dexterity conditions, physical mobility conditions, social interaction and visible difference conditions and vision impairments.
This is an entry level role, experience in this field or a relevant degree is not required. We are looking for people who have a clear and demonstrable passion for Television Production, with no more than 3 months of industry experience.
On starting the scheme trainees will do a week long bootcamp with our training partner, thinkBIGGER! They will start with their chosen company in their second week of the scheme. Trainees will then be required to attend in-person or virtual training once per month. Channel 4 will cover any travel and accommodation costs for training.
Opportunities are available in Belfast, Birmingham, Bristol, Chepstow, Glasgow, Leeds, London and Manchester. As a trainee you will be based at the location of the independent production company to which you have applied to.
Please be aware most companies operate a hybrid way of working and we are unable to offer fully remote working. Although you do not need to be based in the city you are applying to, you must be willing to relocate if you are not within reasonable commuting distance. If you need to relocate to take up this opportunity, Channel 4 can offer you support towards the financial costs of moving. This includes a contribution towards your deposit and first months’ rent, plus visits to your new city to look for accommodation.
The scheme starts on 18th September 2023. Your first week will be in a classroom environment for TV Boot Camp training delivered by thinkBIGGER!
Yes, the scheme is a full-time paid position for 12 months. If you are based outside of London, your salary will be £22,000 per year. If you're based in London, your salary will be £24,000 per year (this is slightly higher due to London weighting).
On the Paralympics Production Training Scheme you will not be working directly for Channel 4 (unless you apply to the role at 4creative). If successful, you will receive a contract of employment from the company you have applied to and you will have regular contact with thinkBIGGER! who deliver your monthly training. The team will also be on hand for any support.
We have opportunities on the scheme in both sports and factual entertainment. If you apply to work at a sports based independent production company, we cannot guarantee that you will be working across the 2024 Paralympics coverage.
We would recommend applying to no more than two roles. Before you apply, take the time to look through all the roles available to see which best suits your skills and interests.
You will need to sign up to register for this website before you are able to submit an application. To complete your application you need to fill in your contact details, personal details, attach a CV and provide answers to the 5 application questions. Your answers to the application questions can be submitted via a written response or by attaching an audio or video file. The 4Skills Team will review your application to create a shortlist and update you by the end of June. If successful at shortlisting, you will be invited to attend a final stage interview with the company to which you have applied and a member of the 4Skills or thinkBIGGER! Team.
Please contact 4skills@channel4.co.uk if you need any support or adjustments made when making your application.
